How many ways of handing out one of four kinds of presents to two persons each ?

12 ways

Solution

The number of ways of choosing two from four kinds is (4 × 3) /  (2 × 1) = 6 ways. 

The number of ways of handing out two kind to two persons is 2 × 1 = 2 ways. 

In all, 6 × 2 = 12 ways.
