Fish goes to the bottom of the water for warm water. Given the common sense, because warm water goes up, it seems to be good in the upper in the water but the bottom of the water. Water is a strange substance and although it is true heavilier water goes down, the cold water lightens oppositely when the temperature is down to some extent.
The temperature of the heaviest water is 4℃ and water of other temperature is getting light.
Water on the surface becomes 0℃ on such a cold day as the surface of the pond to freeze. That is why fish goes to the bottom of the water as there is a large amount of warm water of 4℃.
